EAGLE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL PROGRAM STANDARDS

1.  Uniforms

  • All players must wear unaltered, team-issued uniforms.
  • Footwear: White shoes for all players; varsity players will receive team cleats. All players should have turf shoes and/or tennis shoes available.
  • Sleeves: Freshman and JV players wear long black sleeves only. Varsity and JV players may wear green or black sleeves (green provided), depending on the uniform worn.
  • Game Socks: Freshman players wear black socks. Varsity and JV players wear green and black socks.
  • Jackets: Team-issued program jackets are the only jackets permitted during games and in the dugout.

2.  Practice Gear Requirements

  • Wear only Eagle Baseball logo team practice shirts and shorts (order link provided).
  • Wear only the team practice hat to practice; game hats are not permitted.
  • Gray pants are for practice only.
  • Black belts are permitted for practice only.
  • Black socks are permitted for practice only.
We maintain these standards to project a sharp, disciplined, and organized appearance. Taking pride in our presentation on the field demonstrates our commitment to excellence and discipline.

3.  Attendance and Punctuality

  • Arrive 30 minutes before practice begins to set up the field and engage in early work. (Example: If practice starts at 4:00 PM, arrive by 3:30 PM.)
  1. Communication
  • Players are responsible for communicating directly with coaches, not parents.
  • Use the team app for all coach communication; do not text coaches directly.

5.  Game Etiquette and Conduct

  • Team Focus: Prioritize team success over individual performance. Maintain positive energy at all times.
  • Effort and Hustle: Sprint everywhere; no walking. Lack of hustle will result in removal from the game. Sprint out every ball.
  • Equipment and Language: Do not throw equipment; doing so will result in immediate removal from the game. Loud profanity will result in removal from the game.
  • Respect: Do not "show up" a coach, umpire, or teammate. Maintain positive body language and a positive attitude.
  • Sportsmanship: No trash-talking opposing teams; be classy. Do not talk to parents or spectators during games.
  • Phones and Accessories: Phones must be turned off and put away during games. No earrings are permitted.
  • Duties: Complete all assigned responsibilities, including field preparation and dugout maintenance.
  • Representation: Represent Eagle High School with class, character, and integrity both on and off the field. Playing for this program is a privilege, not a right.
  • Humility: Be humble. Praise teammates and opposing teams in interviews.
  • Resilience: Learn to manage failure. Do not display frustration or allow opponents to see they have affected you.
  • Dugout Energy: Recognize and celebrate teammate achievements (e.g., moving a runner, executing a sacrifice bunt) by greeting them as they return to the dugout.

6.  Fundraising

All fundraising efforts support the program and enhance the player experience. Your participation is essential to program success.

7.  Outside Teams and Lessons

  • Players may not participate on other teams during the spring season; violation may result in removal from the program.
  • Outside lessons must not conflict with team practices or games. Sunday is the recommended day for outside instruction. Avoid scheduling that may compromise performance or lead to overtraining during the spring season.

8.  Academic Priorities

  • School comes first. Maintain strong academic performance.
  • Communicate with the coaching staff if you need time to focus on coursework or grades.

9.  Accessories

  • Eye Black: Limit use and do not smear (league rule).
  • Sunglasses: Permitted.
  • Wristbands: Permitted in team colors only.
  • Arm Sleeves: Permitted in team colors only. Pitchers may not wear white arm sleeves.

10.  Cleats

White cleats are the official program color. Varsity players will receive team cleats. Players may choose any brand that provides a proper fit.

11.  Field Maintenance and Pride

All players, regardless of grade level, are responsible for field preparation and cleanup. Work together as a team to maintain the field daily.

12.  Realistic Outlook

Playing at the next level requires unwavering commitment to excellence in all aspects of life, both on and off the field. Understand the competitive nature of collegiate baseball and prepare accordingly

13.  Playing Time

Playing time is determined by the coaching staff at each level. Players may discuss playing time with their coaches.

14.  Travel Conduct

  • Always represent the program appropriately during travel to games. Conduct detrimental to the team may result in removal from the program.
  • Drive safely to away games and in school parking lots.

15.  Respect for the Game and Program

  • The program comes before individual interests. Players who fail to be good teammates due to playing time or other issues may be removed or suspended.
  • Respect the game through how we play, hustle, work, and conduct ourselves on and off the field.
  • Win or lose, show respect to opponents and umpires. After every game, remove your hat and make eye contact as you shake hands and say, "Good Game."

16.  Parent Expectations

  • Do not berate umpires.
  • Allow coaches to coach. Mistakes will happen; trust the process.
  • Allow players to play. Yelling at players does not improve performance or help them focus.
  • Be a positive influence on the program. Consider how you can contribute to program success.
  • Volunteer to assist with field preparation, facility maintenance, and fundraising.
  • Playing time is earned, not negotiated.

17.  Program Removal

The coaching staff reserves the right to remove players from the program for the following reasons, but not limited to:
  • Fighting
  • Inappropriate behavior on or off campus
  • Drug use, tobacco, vaping, or edibles
  • Poor school attendance
  • Disrespectful behavior toward coaching staff
  • Poor parental conduct
  • Any other behavior that would damage or embarrass the program

18.  Supporting Other Teams

  • Attend and cheer for other program teams when possible. This unity strengthens all teams.
  • Do not be disrespectful to any Eagle High School team or individual players.
  • We are one program. Support each other through successes and challenges.
  • Coaches continuously evaluate behavior and actions on and off the field.
  • Upperclassmen should mentor younger players on what it means to be an Eagle High School Baseball Player.

19.  Fan and Parent Conduct Standards

  • Alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted on the high school campus.
  • Parents are not allowed in the dugout or on the field unless there is an injury and coaching staff request your assistance, or if a parent group is helping prepare the field before or between games.
  • No parent coaching during games, including batting advice on deck. Players need clear focus and one coaching voice. Non-compliance may result in player removal from the game.
  • Parents are welcome to attend practices. Allow coaches to coach and players to play.

20.  Community Service

Community service will be incorporated throughout the season as part of our program values.

21.  Social Media Responsibility

Exercise personal responsibility on social media. One inappropriate post can damage your opportunities and the program's reputation. Have an adult review posts before sharing.

 

Baseball is a game -Let us play at an elevated level, have fun, and enjoy the journey. Perfection is difficult to achieve in a game filled with failure.
